Despite the fact that most western Nigerians love pounded yam, the stress of physically pounding by using mortar and pestle makes it difficult, so pounded yam is only remembered on special occasion and festive seasons for most Nigerians except for some few tribes who cannot do without it e.g Ekiti and Ijesha people of western Nigeria.
